Véget ért a Rooster 29er Európa Kupa és Országos Bajnokság

Tizennégyből 10 futamot tudtunk sikeresen megrendezni az idei Rooster 29er Európa Kupán és Országos Bajnokságon. Öt nemzet 37 egysége 74 versenyzője vitorlázta végig a regattát. Az első három nap halasztással kezdődött, azonban egy napot kivéve mindegyik napon tudtunk futamot rendezni. A versenyrendezőség türelmes és kitartó munkája – amely esetenként nem volt egyszerű, már az előrejelzéseket illetően sem – sikeresen zárhatta a 4 napos regattát.
A csütörtöki 9 órás megnyitót és csapatvezetői értekezletet követően parti halasztással indítottuk a napot. 14:30-kor a versenyrendezőség elindult a vízre, hogy felépítse a pályát a versenyzőknek. Egy rövid vízi halasztás után a szél stabilizálódott és elindították az első futamot. Ezen a napon még két másik futamot is rendeztek, amelyek közül az utolsót már naplementében vitorlázhatták le a versenyzők.
A második napon az előrejelzés sok jót nem ígért, a napot halasztással kezdtük és így is zártuk le. A nap lelövése után Pasta Party-val vendégeltük meg a versenyzőket, edzőiket és a versenyrendezőket.
A szombati nap hasonlóan indult mint az első, parti halasztás majd 14:30-kor a rendezőség bevonta a halasztást és vízre kelt a mezőny. Újabb sikeres három futamot tudhatott magáénak a mezőny. A negyedik futamot még elindították, azonban a szél csökkenése miatt érvényteleníteni kellett, ezzel a nap is véget ért.
A szombati versenyprogram módosítás után, a mezőny 8:30-kor vízre szállt és a tervek szerinti négy futamot futhattak a csapatok. A díjkiosztót 14:30-kor tartottuk, ahonnan az olasz Demurtas Alex és Santi Giovanni rivai versenyzők vihették haza az Európa Kupa aranyérmet. Második helyen a Tóth Attila – Borda Levente páros végzett, akik egyben az idei Magyar Bajnokságot is megnyerték. Harmadik helyen az ír Clementine van Steenberge és Nathan van Steenberge állhatott a dobogóra.
A verseny vezetője Kárpáti Bence, akinek már nem ez az első Európa Kupa rendezése a 29er hajóosztálynak: „Az idei 29-er Európa kupa rendezése kihívásokkal teli volt, de úgy érzem a rendező csapattal hatékonyan ki tudtuk használni a versenyzésre alkalmas időablakokat, így nagyon szép 10 futamot vitorlázhatott a mezőny. Az időjárás különösen érdekesen alakult, minden versenynapon 5 és 20 csomó között változott a szél akár két futam között is, néhol 30-40 fokkal eltérő irányból, így gyorsan és összehangoltan kellett reagálni, hogy a 30 perces célidőket tartani tudjuk. Nagy öröm számomra, hogy majdnem minden futamban hibahatáron belül tartani tudtuk ezt a 30 percet. A legtöbb napot nem tudtuk a délelőtt folyamán versenyzéssel kezdeni, a halasztás alatt folyamatosan tájékoztattuk a versenyzőket az aktuális széladatokról. A hosszú napok ellenére a mezőny rendkívül jól alkalmazkodott a változatos körülményekhez, számomra is meglepő volt, hogy egyetlen általános visszahívás, egyetlen fekete lobogós rajt sem volt.”
A versenybíróság elnöke az ausztrál származású Rosemary Collins volt, aki annak idején vitorlázóként tesztelhette az 1-es sorszámú 29er hajót, ami kijött a gyárból. „A vízen a 42-es szabály büntetéseit ítéltük meg, ezért két zsűri hajónk volt minden futam alatt. Azt vettük észre, hogy a vitorlázók nagyon tapasztaltak és jók a vitorlázásban (jól vitorláznak), habár néhány büntetés kiosztottunk a vízen. Nem volt túl sok óvásunk a parton, összesen kettő az egész verseny alatt és mindkettő hajók közötti incidens volt. Azt tapasztaltuk, hogy a szabályok ismerete és a helyi vitorlázóktól, illetve az Európából érkező nemzetközi vitorlázóktól nagyon magas színvonalú vitorlázást láthattunk, bírálati szempontból nagyon jó érzés ilyet mondani.” A versenybíróság további tagjai: Váradi Imre, Dragomir Andonovic és Szemes Bence.
Fehér Boróka és Fehér Szonja első éves 29er versenyzők, akiknek sikerült U17-ben a dobogó felső fokára felállni. Boró az alábbiakban foglalta össze a versenyt: „Nem volt egyszerű verseny hiszen a körülmények sokoldalúságot igényeltek és a mezőny is erős volt a külföldi egységeknek köszönhetően. Talán ez is látszik az eredményünkön, hogy mi nem vettük jól a változásokat, de szerencsénk volt és Magyar Bajnokok lettünk U17-ben. Nagyon örülök ennek, mert így Szonja megszerezte első bajnoki címét, én pedig tudtam folytatni a szériámat. A csapatunkat illetően nagyon meg vagyok velük elégedve és örülök, hogy a tagja lehetek. Folyamatosan motiváljuk, húzzuk egymást és jobb edzői gárdát nem kívánhatnánk magunknak.”

The Rooster 29er Euro Cup and National Championships ended on Sunday
74 competitors from 37 teams from five nations sailed the Rooster 29er Euro Cup and National Championship. The first three days started with a postponement, but we were able to race on all but one day. The patinent work of the race committee – which was not easy at times, not even in terms of forecasting – allowed the 4-day regatta to be a success.
After the opening ceremony and team leaders’ meeting at 9am on Thursday, we started the day with a postponement. At 14:30 the race committee headed out on the water to set up the course for the competitors. After a short water delay the wind stabilised and the first race was started. Two more races were held that day, the last of which was sailed at sunset.
On the second day, the forecast was not very good, so we started the day with a postponement and ended it that way. After the day was over, we hosted a Pasta Party for the competitors, their coaches and the race organizers.
Saturday started off like the first day, with a party postponement and then at 14:30 the stewards called the postponement and the field took to the water. Another successful three races for the field. The fourth race was started, but had to be cancelled due to a drop in wind, ending the day.
After a change to the race programme on Saturday, the field took to the water at 8:30am and the teams were able to run four races as planned. The prize-giving ceremony was held at 14:30, where the Italian riders Demurtas Alex and Santi Giovanni from Rivai took home the European Cup gold medal. Second place went to Attila Tóth and Levente Borda, who also won this year’s Hungarian Championship. Third place went to Ireland’s Clementine van Steenberge and Nathan van Steenberge.
The race officer was Bence Kárpáti: „This year’s 29er Euro Cup was challenging, but I feel that the organizing team and I were able to make effective use of the racing time windows, so the field sailed a very nice 10 races. The weather was particularly interesting, with winds varying between 5 and 20 knots each race day, even between two races, sometimes from 30-40 degrees, so we had to react quickly and in a coordinated way to keep to the 30 minute target times. I was very pleased that we were able to keep within the 30-minute time limit in almost every race. We were unable to start racing most of the day during the morning, and kept the competitors informed of the current wind data during the postponement. Despite the long days, the field adapted extremely well to the varied conditions and it was surprising to me that there was not a single general recall or black flag start.”
The chair of the jury was the Australian-born Rosemary Collins, who was a sailor when the class testing the first 29er which was coming out from the factory. „On the water we were adjudicating Rule 42 penalties, so we had two jury boats during each race. We found that the sailors were very experienced and good at sailing (sailing well), although we handed out some penalties on the water. We didn’t have too many protests on shore, a total of two during the whole race and both were incidents between boats. What we found was that we saw a very high standard of sailing from the local sailors and the international sailors from Europe, from a judging point of view it feels very good to say that.” Other members of the jury were Imre Váradi, Dragomir Andonovic and Bence Szemes.
Boróka Fehér and Szonja Fehér are first year 29er competitors who managed to get on the top step of the podium in U17. „It was not an easy race as the conditions required versatility and the field was strong thanks to the foreign teams. Maybe this is reflected in our result, we didn’t take the changes well, but we were lucky and became Hungarian U17 Champions. I am very happy about that, because Sonja won her first title and I could continue my winning streak. As for our team, I am very happy with them and I am glad to be a part of it. We constantly motivate and pull each other and we couldn’t wish for a better coaching team.”
